Summary Review
|
: |
Ultimate Bet is another high roller in the poker world that has gained the endorsement of such big name players as Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, David "Devilfish" Ulliott and Antonio "Magic" Esfandiari. Now obviously these players only endorse whatever online poker product pays them the most, but it does speak loudly as to how big Ultimate Bet's bankroll is and, as a result, the reliability of the site. With over a thousand players seated at the tables every day, you know you're going to get a game. Just don't expect to be going heads up with Phil Hellmuth.

The Poker Website
Ultimate Bet has a very clean website that almost resembles a newspaper. They provide a picture of the interface as the headline, with promotions, endorsements and poker news surrounding it like separate articles. Speaking of endorsements, when describing famed female player Annie Duke, Ultimate Bet offers this tidbit - "The best woman poker player in the world. Four kids later and still a stone babe, too." Oh man. Not to say Ms. Duke is a giant toad-faced octopus, but a peculiar thing to say all the same. And now at the table, one time bracelet winner, mother of four and hot sexy babe, Annie Duke!!!
Of course, the real surprise would be Phil Hellmuth endorsing online poker, where there are seemingly more bad beats every hour than in Michael Spinks' entire career. Then again, I suppose nowhere in the contract does it state Phil must play internet poker, only that if he does he must stick with the fat cats at Ultimate Bet. Everyone's a tool for the despicable man-eating shark known as big business. And yes, I despise them because I want to be them.
Registration and Poker Play
Ultimate Bet claims to be the site where "Virtually everyone plays poker." Get it? It's a pun! Virtually everyone? As in everyone virtually? As in the virtual...never mind. In any case, virtually everyone, in actual terms, comes out to about three thousand people online daily with about one thousand seated. Which is not bad at all, but if you're ever looking for a case of misleading advertising, perhaps you should look at Ultimate Bet.
Deposits are limited to credit, NETeller, FirePay, SFPay and Citadel. On the other hand, payouts are quite fast, including a 2-business day policy on checks.
As for the table, you can seat up to ten players, depending on the game, with various backdrops for your viewing pleasure. One particular scene has a table out in the middle of the desert, which makes for a fantastic view unless you are unlucky enough to be seated with your back to it. One also might wonder why in the world people are playing poker in the desert, but one can conclude that one is high and one should shut up and enjoy it before he bashes his own face in with a two by four.
Online Poker Bonuses and Promotions
First time deposits can net you some free coin, 40% in fact, up to $200. Provisions include depositing at least $25 and playing a lot of hands and earning "Ultimate points." What is an ultimate point, you ask? Well, it is a complicated matter that took a bit of deciphering by the world's best archeologists to transform it into mathematical principles that can be understood and studied. As for the actual equation, it involves multiplying the total number of dollars wagered by the number of raked hands while standing on your head, divided by the circumference of the moon. Solve for X.
The referral bonus is probably the worst on the internet. You must refer five players just to earn $25. I won't speak on this matter any further. Other promotions include a number of satellite tournaments and big money tourneys, including the weekly $100 Grand Sundays, which I'll let you guess as to when it takes place. For the cheapies, there are Annie Duke Freeroll tourneys (what a stone babe), and super satellites to the WSOP. There are even buy-ins to the WPT Shooting Star tourney in San Francisco, where Tony Bennett left his bloody heart somewhere in an alley near 3rd and Market. From what I understand, it is still beating and may someday make a hearty meal for some lucky homeless man.
Poker Customer Service
Ultimate Bet is audited by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, which based on my research of online poker websites, seems to have a stranglehold on the gaming commission industry. Is it for their lax policies or because they hold legitimacy? Only the fat cats who run these poker sites know for sure. In any case, with such ringing endorsements from poker pros, I can only determine that your money is in good hands.
As for the people service, Ultimate Bet only provides a pop-up menu email system and no phone numbers to speak of. Now although I consider a world without phones to be a grand utopia, in the world of service you must at least provide a live chat system to even be functional. Yet Ultimate Bet has decided against having a call center, which is one of those good news/bad news kind of deals. Bad for customers, good for people who work at Ultimate Bet. Seriously, working phones is the worst, a fate worse than hell.
Overall Poker Rating
Ultimate Bet, when compared to other online poker giants, does get a notch for offering such a diverse range of tourneys. The 40% bonus is very generous, perhaps even comparable with some of the more desperate poker sites trying everything they can to reel in customers. In short, and in long, you have to give Ultimate Bet the nod for putting together a nice little racket.
