A southern gentleman once told me, "We make chicken right" and I told this man, who called himself Colonel Sanders, although I am not sure of what army he belonged to, that his chicken was quite tasty. He then went on to tell me about beautiful southern belles and the penchant for playing Texas Hold 'em. Which is why the name River Belle Poker makes perfect sense and represents honest to God Southern hospitality. If such hospitality can come from an online poker site based in Europe. I know, I'm ruining the illusion. Oh and that Japanese food restaurant on the corner? Probably owned by Koreans.

Since its maiden voyage in 1997, River Belle's reputation as a trustworthy, honest and fair online casino is well-known in the industry and the River Belle Poker Room proudly upholds this tradition.
Maiden voyage? While trying to discern between illusion and reality, I boarded the River Belle Poker steamboat and was impressed with the surroundings. Although the theme was ridiculous foolishness, the actual River Belle Poker area is clean, with easy to use links and information. Deposits can be made with anything and everything, whether it be Payspark, NETeller, Firepay or fried chicken.
Playing the Poker
River Belle Poker has Texas Hold 'em, 5 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud and Omaha. The River Belle Poker poker tables seat up to ten and the graphics are standard. On the poker tournament front, River Belle Poker offers 75 and 100K tourneys on a weekly basis, with both satellites and a direct buy-in to play. Furthermore, for the everyday gambling junkie there are daily poker tournaments up to 25K, the only drawback being there are no satellites to any major poker tournaments. New players are granted entry into a $5,000 freeroll tournament and other freerolls are also available to more experienced River Belle Poker gamblers.
Bonuses and Poker Promos
Technically there are no initial River Belle Poker deposit bonuses, which makes me wonder what kind of hellish idea of southern hospitality they are showing me. River Belle Poker does offer a special promotion for NETeller deposits only, where you can earn up to $300, which reeks of British monarchial control and lack of choice. The $300 is earned over $20 increments and play at various fixed limit games, where you can earn bonus redemption points. A complicated equation, which translated means you have to play about a million hands to ever see your money. There is also a link for "Referring a Friend," but when you click on it, it takes you nowhere. I suppose they are simply asking you to do this out of pure generosity and any implied bonuses are merely phantoms.
Poker Service
On the service side, River Belle Poker offers email and toll free numbers for English speaking countries. River Belle Poker service is fairly average, in terms of both speed and helpfulness. On the other hand, River Belle Poker customer service reps do speak English, which is a plus in this often accented world of internet gaming. However, don't expect quick replies to your emails or river belles to invite you to their next soiree. Either I misunderstood what the south was like or perhaps the Colonel had lied to me all along. Hell, he probably lied about being a colonel too, the shady chicken making bastard.
Overall Poker Rating
Despite having a large guaranteed tournament pool, River Belle Poker offers nothing else in terms of bonuses, satellites for major poker tournaments or extra perks like articles or whored up southern girl calendars. In short, the southern hospitality shown here is not the kind of stereotypical class and friendship.
