Summary Review
|
: |
Men are obsessed with size. Whether this is a result of nature or nurture we shall leave to the scientists, the pornography industry and the average perverted sociopath. However, for whatever reason, it seems bigger is better and if you ask the average man what size he is, he is often inclined to gross exaggerations that only encourage speculation that he is otherwise. It's a lot like tells in poker, when someone acts strong, when in fact their hand is weak. Thus when a relatively obscure site like PokerRoom.com makes claims of having over 3 million (that's three million) players, it makes one wonder if they are indeed bluffing.

The Poker Website and Registration
Granted, the people at PokerRoom.com have a well designed website and perhaps the most impressive graphics I have seen at the poker table. With a site this impressive, maybe the twelve inch dong they claim to sport is not an exaggeration. Then again, I just poured bleach over a hot stove and inhaled the resulting gas, so my judgment may not be entirely clear. Still, one cannot deny that the people at the poker tables look like actual people. Whether I prefer this to the option of putting up your own JPEG, I haven't decided. One is more comedic, the other has vastly more cool factor.
PokerRoom.com is another site that also feels the need to teach you with their useless poker schooling, which is about as helpful as a degree from ITT tech. However, PokerRoom.com does offer lessons on how to play Chinese Poker, which is a cross between Mah Jong, Poker and large doses of heroin.
Playing Online Poker
PokerRoom.com provides Texas Hold 'em, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, and Chinese Poker. There are also daily and weekly tourneys, yet it seems there are slim pickings in this regard in comparison to other sites. Sure, they give you the $10 and $20 buy-ins, but how are you going to purchase that Bentley with such paltry cash? Furthermore, you have satellites to the EPT, but nothing in terms of WPT or any large weekly tourneys? Ultimately, PokerRoom.com is more "Hot Wheels" than actual car. Three million users, over ten thousand online each day and this is all they can come up with? Maybe they spent all the money on the graphics. Or perhaps they spent it on their...movies! Yes, PokerRoom.com has a series of racy flicks that show you how to apply your skills in the PokerRoom.com to the bedroom. I smell Oscar.
Bonuses and Poker Promotions
PokerRoom.com does have one of the most exciting promos on the internet, the chance to become a paid poker pro. If you win an online satellite, then go on to win a special tournament, you will be granted a fixed salary, free airfare and buy-ins covered for the next year. Total value estimated at $240K. An amazing package, where one can indulge themselves in total debauchery and hedonistic hell and get paid for doing so. And if you win these tournaments, imagine how many extra conjugal visits and narcotics you can purchase then. The growth potential of this promo is limitless.
There is also deposit bonus of 20% up to $100 and a referral bonus of $50 ($25 for the referred), but who cares. This is peanuts compared to the promotion I mentioned earlier and I should have never even mentioned it. This is like seeing Milla Jovovich naked and then asking to see one more girl, only to have it be Janeane Garofalo.
Online Poker Customer Service
PokerRoom.com has a strange sense of controlling and reclusive behavior when it comes to customer service, which reminds me of a cross between the Bush administration and the "She puts the lotion in the basket" guy in Silence of the Lambs. What am I talking about? I am talking about a support section that has no live chat, no phone numbers, and no email. All that leaves is a bureaucratic web posting system that forces you to pick a subject and submit your comment like a member of the former Soviet Union. I am deeply offended and I am currently organizing a coup to assassinate the leaders of PokerRoom.com, if I could only get some kind of information as to where and who they are. But how? Eureka! I'll just put up a post.
Overall Poker Rating
PokerRoom.com is a well conceived site that looks impressive enough to have been built by a pack of sunlight-deficient hackers. Decent bonuses, nice promotions, even ridiculous poker movies that entertain the same way Steven Seagal does when he runs. Sure, the tourneys can be brushed up a little, but overall a good site. Even my chimp Apples agrees.
