Summary Review
|
: |
Piggs Peak Poker is an offshoot of the Piggs Peak Casino and part of the Prima Poker network, which runs with the very familiar (if you're an online casino regular) Micrograming software. The actual poker site is named Poker 333. Confused yet? Well, don't sweat the name game - this is still a decent place to be a little poker piggy. For an initial deposit of at least $20, you are promised a $16 sign-up bonus within 48 hours. Mine still hadn't arrived in 24. And I'm still waiting for support to return my e-mail asking when I'd get it. And when I tried to call support, first I got a British woman's pre-recording "Welcome to Casino Support," then it rang about thirty times, then it switched to another ring for about ten times, then it told me to call again later. Apparently, the swine in support aren't so plentiful. Actual poker play in the rooms is reliable and there are plenty of poker tables to choose from - because they're shared with every other Prima Poker affiliate site. The bottom line here seems to be that Piggs Peak expects to keep makin' the bacon without putting any resources behind the operation - i.e. support. And you'll have a lot of good poker play as long as you don't want to speak to the management.

Full Review

Piggs Peak Poker offers downloadable software, which will enable you to register at its online poker site, Poker 333 - NOT Piggs Peak Poker. Which is odd, because they still seem determined to carry forth the pork motif, since their splash page features three hogs, one of whom smokes a cigar (apparently the pigs can't read the Surgeon General warnings). In any event, if you can find your way around the poker site without any help, you'll be okay - otherwise, forget it, because, at least on a Sunday night, the support swine are on a perpetual trough break, because I was unable to get any answers via email or phone support.
Makin' Some Extra Bacon
Signing up for poker play is pretty easy, especially if you're already a registered user on the Prima Poker network, which Piggs Peak aka Poker 333 is a member of. They'll just ask you for your registered alias and confirmation number and you're on your way. There is also a good variety of banking alternatives on this site, through which you can deposit money (and which will probably disappear before you can withdraw it again). There is a $16 sign-up bonus for your initial $20 deposit, which is supposed to arrive within 48 hours. I still hadn't seen it within 24, but I assume the porkers are just taking their time.
Porking Out on Poker
The usual games are here - Omaha Poker, Seven Card Stud, Five Card Stud, Texas Hold 'em, One-on-One - with the usual wacky table names and a good variety of betting levels. Again, however, these rooms are shared with every other Prima Poker site, so it doesn't really matter if you're on the Piggs Peak site - which, quite frankly, is a lot uglier than many. But nobody ever accused pigs of having good taste.
There is another bonus level you can reach after you get your sign-up $16 bonus (and I'm still hoping I will!). If you play in 200 raked poker hands at or above the $2 level, you get an extra $75 to play with for free. Sure, maybe you'll spend a couple hundred to get that extra 75, but hogs are hogs, baby! There's also a Refer-A-Friend bonus program that requires both you and your friends to probably lose your shirts until you see the bonus money. Just remember - hogs rule here! HOGS!
Slightly Boaring
To sum up, this isn't a bad poker site, but it's not a particularly good poker site. It's another sausage link in the Prima Poker network chain, which means the bonuses vary a little, the banking alternatives vary a little, but the actual rooms and tables remain the same and the support seems to be teetering on the abysmal, not the "24/7" promise made on the support page. And then there's the VERY slow transmission speed of the sign-up bonus (every other site usually delivers theirs within a day, even though they SAY it will take up to 48 hours). Also, it's another gambling site licensed by the Kahnawake Canadian tribe, whose gambling sites tend to be a little underwhelming. If you know what you're doing, there's no reason not to play poker here. But there's not a whole lot of reason to dive into this pigpen either.
