Summary Review
|
: |
PartyPoker.com is perhaps the world's largest and most recognizable poker site on the Internet. Their commercials are often featured during WPT events, with Mike "I'm a rock but people have to respect my play because I'm on TV" Sexton doing most of the promotion. In fact, PartyPoker.com boasts that they have over 65,000+ players playing, which I'm assuming could be anywhere from 65,001 to 65,999. Unless of course the "round up" rule is in play, which would bring the "almost 66,000 players" slogan to anything over 65,500. That's assuming PartyPoker.com didn't want a nice round number, in which case...
Needless to say, PartyPoker.com is the spot where a game is definitely guaranteed, with all sorts of limits and all types of players. It is truly the Microsoft of the online poker world and you may take that whatever way you please.

The Poker Website
The PartyPoker.com website is fairly clean, but much to my dismay, there is no Mike Sexton to be found. Couldn't they have Mr. Sexton give helpful hints on how to fold an ace-king before the flop or how to over-bet the nuts and make everyone fold? Or perhaps as a substitute, they can create a link to all of Vince Van Patten's poker slang. Can't play poker but want to pose as a shark? Take it from me, Vince Van Patten, all you need to know is how to talk the talk. Learn terms like "Motown, Jacks and Five," or "Queen-Queen, the ladies, the Hilton Sisters!!!" and you can sound just like a real poker player. Why waste your time trying to learn how to play when you can pretend to be a world class champion in just five easy steps. It worked for me and it can work for you!!!
Registration and Poker Play
Once you've downloaded and installed the PartyPoker.com software, you're ready to play. There are a plethora of ways to deposit, including credit cards, electronic checks, NETeller, Citadel, Money Transfer - well, you get the idea. You can also register as either male or female and if I may make a suggestion, perhaps it may be time for a sex change. It is a known fact that male players are more susceptible to the wiles of an attractive female, which would explain why most women players aren't successful in the WSOP. They aren't attractive. In any case, all the women players in PartyPoker.com are granted humongous breasts and computerized sex appeal, which may play an important factor when you're stealing pots from the suckers.
Bonuses and Promotions
When you're Microsoft, do you have to entice people to use your Windows platform with bonuses and rebates? Of course not. The same goes for the PartyPoker.com machine. With Mike Sexton pimping out the website on every WPT telecast, there's no need to do anything but sit back and let the money roll in. That's not to say there are no bonuses at all. Occasionally, the people at PartyPoker.com will send an email with a bonus code or perhaps give you a code to enter in when you first deposit. You know, drop a few change here and there to make sure you don't feel neglected, the same way a polygamist sleeps with his fourth mistress once every three weeks.
There is also a referral bonus, or "tell-a-friend" bonus, which earns you $50 and earns them $25. I call it a referral bonus, because I don't think such bonuses should be limited to your friends, but should include your enemies as well. A truce can certainly be called if it means an extra "fitty" for you and twenty-five for them.
Customer Service
PartyPoker.com offers 24/7 phone support, although the number is only toll-free in the States of America and Canada. Residence in any other part of the world is subject to international toll charges, the sad realization that you do not live in the United States and the subsequent relief of not having to live in Canada. Furthermore, PartyPoker.com has about a billion different emails to suit your various needs. Which I believe is more convenient for them than it is for you, but at least you are assured the correct department is dealing with your complaint. In addition, if you apply and are accepted as a VIP, you are entitled to even greater service and comps to boot. What are the requirements for becoming a VIP? Why, you must simply sell your soul to Mike Sexton.
Overall Poker Rating
PartyPoker.com is always going to have a presence on the Internet poker landscape. They have cash games of up to 30/60, their no limit tables have buy-ins of up to $200 and regular tournaments in addition to the PartyPoker.com Million. On the other hand, their promotions are far from generous and they tend to have that sort of blase, cavalier attitude that the large companies have toward the little guy. You know what I'm talking about, that "I don't care, we don't need you" attitude. And the truth is you don't. The question is, based on their selling points(reliability and abundance of games), do you need them?
