When trying to find a domain name on an internet poker scene more crowded than a nightclub on fire, it becomes interesting to see what the business folk out there come up with. For Intertops Poker, it probably went along these lines. Um...we're on the internet, we want to be tops in the business and we offer poker...how about Intertops Poker! Which would have been quite brilliant, had they not screwed the whole thing up by hiring Marcel Luske as their spokesman, hardy har har. All kidding aside, with apparently 65,000+ players online, we shall see whether or not the site that sports the "Flying Dutchman" is a flying piece of bull.

Intertops Poker splatters their webpage with flashing lights and pictures of Marcel Luske. Which is good or bad depending on your thoughts on Mr. Luske. They further make the claim that Marcel Luske finished second at the WSOP, which is untrue, for it was David Williams who did such. Now if they had David, the Robin to Marcel's Batman, endorsing them also, I would have immediately went down on my knees and proclaimed Intertops Poker comedic gods. After all, who could forget last year's love-fest at the World Series of Poker and it would be very amusing to know if these two were still hanging out or if David had finally tired of Marcel's routine and broke both his legs. Either way, we have entertainment abound.
In any case, Intertops Poker seems to sponsor a variety of strange and obscure tourneys, such as the 2004 Russian Ladies Championship and the 2004 Austrian Masters in Vienna. No word as to if they sponsor the 2004 Transsexual Midget Eskimo Tournament in Iceland, but I have a good feeling that they do. In fact, it seems as far as the continent of Europe is concerned, Intertops Poker has a stranglehold on the landscape, much like the Iron Curtain of the cold war. Not that I as an American am opposed to this, for my allegiance can be bought with a shot of bourbon and a pack of cigarettes.
Online Poker and Cashier
Once you download and register, you'll find that the setup is like most poker sites, games on the left, tables on the right. Intertops Poker offers the standard Texas Hold 'em, Omaha and 7 Card Stud (boy, does that sound gay), along with Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud Hi/Lo (although they refer to it as 8 or better, which I'm assuming must be some Nazi European name they have slapped on to our precious game).
You can play both multi and single table tournaments, daily $500 freerolls and daily $40,000 tournaments. Truly, it seems that Intertops Poker has outdone themselves on the tourney front and I am ready to denounce my country for greener pastures and proclaim Mr. Luske my king. Besides, he is from Holland and Amsterdam is in Holland, the greatest place in the world.
Deposit options include NETeller, FirePay, 900pay, Cash Direct, credit cards, bank wire and EU transfer. Choose wisely or Intertops Poker may send you an email of Mr. Luske naked. Okay, so I made that up. Or did I?...
Bonuses and Poker Promotions
The tell-a-friend bonus nets $50 for you, $25 for them, although I'm not sure why this is limited only to friends, save for the fact that you don't want your enemies making any money at all. The welcome bonus is 20% up to $100, but you must remember the secret code word to receive it. Currently it is "Happy2005," yet I'm assuming in order to circumvent the CIA and KGB the password rotates every fifteen seconds. With such a speedy rotation, you must be quick, lest your entire bonus go down the esophagus of Miss Oprah Winfrey.

While thumbing through this and other ridiculous testimonials, I discovered that players who won tended to be happier about their experience. What an interesting phenomenon, I would have never believed that to be true.
In terms of the actual service, it's quite amusing to note they have a picture of a lady with a phone headset, but they don't have any actual phone numbers. Yes, look how sexy we are as we take pretend calls from you, yes...even though we don't actually take phone calls from you, if we did we would do it quite sexily...
With the phone system kaput, the only option for immediate help would be the live chat, for emails as we know take hours before a reply is granted. Still, any company that fails to have a phone line is clearly hiding something, perhaps even a service team full of thick Euro accents.
Overall Poker Rating
Although the size and range of tournaments is quite impressive, Intertops Poker fails miserably to produce in the fields not related to gaming, such as service and banking. Therefore, it really depends on what is important to you when deciding if Intertops Poker is the way to go. Personally, I believe the tourney presence and cash game availability is worth giving the site a try and any site that might result in a match against Marcel Luske is always good for a few laughs.
