Do you get the feeling that sometimes people just name things for how they sound rather than an actual definition? Um, let's see, Stallion Poker, Muscles Poker...Absolute Poker! Yes, because it's absolutely great!!! Yeah!!!
Although I'm not sure what the name implies, I do know Absolute Poker is a nicely designed poker site with increasing popularity and the awards to prove it. Their slogan is "to continue to be the best and most trusted," which is a very vague mission and I'm glad the people at Absolute Poker aren't in charge of directing our troops. Then again, I suppose they couldn't possibly be a worse alternative to what we have now.

The Look and the Poker Table
Absolute Poker furnishes their website with pictures of very tall buildings, which I suppose is in an effort to exhibit class and sophistication. After all, what is more sophisticated than a skyscraper skyline? Late night shows have been using this tactic for years. Although I suppose they're not trying to be classy on Conan. In any case, the classy look and soothing blue colors are not limited to the website, but the theme also translates onto the imaginary poker table and make believe carpet. The best part about Absolute Poker is that you can put your actual picture at the table, so you're not regulated to playing the snooty guy in the business suit or the cowboy with the cowboy boots. Furthermore, any image will do, so one can guess the shenannigans that ensue.
Registration for Online Poker
Like all poker sites, Absolute Poker has their own software that must be downloaded in order to play. Once you've installed and registered, you can begin playing with a minimum deposit of $25, $15 if you are using Neteller. Other deposit methods include CentralCoin, FirePay, credit cards, electronic check, bank draft or wire transfers. As for payouts, the standard speed applies to NETeller and FirePay, while checks can take up to three weeks to process. In all withdrawal cases, cashouts will not be processed until 48 hours have passed from your last deposit. A lot of important fine print to take note of.
Poker Bonuses and Promotions
Absolute Poker first deposit bonuses are 100% when entering code "AP100"! Bonus money will be earned by playing raked hands and tournaments, which is all based on a point system. A hundred points earns you $10, with each point representing either one raked hand or each dollar of a tournament buy-in.
Friends Bonus
Referring friends gives you $50, provided they deposit $25 and play one hundred raked hands. In addition, your friend will also get a free $25, which is something most other poker sites don't do. However, for the selfish man, this means absolutely nothing.
Customer Poker Service
Right off the bat, Absolute Poker mentions that email support for hotmail users is experiencing technical difficulties. While in most cases, I'm implied to think this is user error, because in most cases of computer difficulties it is, but I still don't like the fact that one of the most popular email services is not reliable with Absolute Poker. You say at least they're being honest? Well, I say they are covering their behinds.
On the other hand, users have some nice things to say. Take this testimonial for example:

We also have a nice word put in for Absolute Poker by GOM, which granted it 2004's top new poker site. I believe that this is also a poll voted on by users, which speaks louder than if Tom Arnold and Stephen A. Smith had a gay love child.
Overall Poker Rating
In the end, you have to consider Absolute Poker as a top notch poker site with good poker tournaments and plenty of cash poker games. With satellites going to the WPT, the World Series of Poker and free roll poker tournaments for the homeless, er, poor players, you have everything you need to indulge in your online poker fantasies. Four stars.
